Just north of Saint Helena, lies the island of Ascension. As Saint Helena, this island is part of the british overseas territories, and share the same currency, Saint Helena- Ascension pounds.
Because of its geographical position, Ascension is a strtegical point for communication, and it was used by the NASA during the appolo program. The european space center is still using it to follow the ariane rocket launches made from French Guyana. Beside this, the American army rent a part of Ascension to run a military base.
